vl's are harder to find in good un molested condition, make sure you inspect it very well, 5k should get you a nice vlc. but i'd just keep an eye out for both and see whats around for the price

5 grand would get a vt.. Just look at as many as you can and talk prices and tell them you will pay cash.. Everyone loves cash

Go the VS mate, $5,000 will definitely get you a clean Calais or Belina. Just keep your eyes peeled and don't rush into the first one you see just because you want a car. You have to go through many a **** car to find a good car.

As much as I love VLs for a first car I would go for a VS. Get a VL later on down the track for project, or something.
