Mind you $360.00 all up for a 15000km service was a bit of a hit in the back pocket. The oil was $128.00

Ouch!
Oh well... it's done now, and you got Mobil 1 in there so can't complain. But they sure didnt do you any favours on pricing :(.

Thanks for all the feedback here guys, appreciated.

Had the car serviced with Mobil 1 fully synthetic.

It's what my dealer recommended to me.

But it's done for another 15000km.

Thanks once again.

Cheers.

You allegedly can run up more miles and more time between oil changes if using Synthetic engine oil but I would NOT be leaving the oil change intervals to 15000 kms. Even with synthetic oil I would be changing the oil again no later than 8000 kms of typical city running (and with mineral oils no later than 5000 kms - but I do it on 3500 kms). The cost per 1000 kms even with synthetic is quite low when you put it all into perspective. It's cheap insurance.

ANYHOW FOR THOSE INTERESTED HERE IS A GOOD ARTICLE ON MOTOR OILS WHICH I THINK IS QUITE HELPFUL. Refer to the link below.

i use and recommend, valvoline durablend 5w-30 for these, works great, good quality oil, good price,

if you want the next step up, valvoline synpower 5w-40 is the full synthetic full sha-bam speccy oil, bout $10 a bottle more expensive than the durablend

My vote aswell, although it is a semi-synthetic oil. I have ran 5w-30, 10w-40, 15w-50 varients of this oil in my track car (depending on operating conditions) with good results. It also seems to clean/remove carbon build up and prevent it from occuring.

The oil's main three purposes are to:

Lubricate
Clean
Cool

After extended periods of use, the oils do not perform how they are supposed to. Best thing though is to service the car regularly.
