The key in the lock will open the door, if it doesn't then he either has the wrong key or is turning it the wrong way.
Call a lock smith/RACV.

aZk.

If he deadlocked the car before leaving then the key will need to be turned really hard.
It feels like its going to break the key but it does usually turn in the end.
Have had to do this myself when my battery failed.

If the battery is flat, crawl under the car and connect some jump leads to the positive terminal and the subframe of the car, connect to another battery. The alarm will go off, but just unlock car and turn off the alarm. I couldn't open my car when it had a dead flat battery.

as advised, you need to double turn the key in one direction..

If i recall its left twice or right twice or something.. been awhile since i have used my actual key on the door :D
but it does work and get you in. You just have to feel the lock and get an idea which is a flex and what is a release feeling.

I can see that we will be saying to our kids, Yeah back in our day we used to have to put a key in the lock and turn it to unlock the car.... :D

I havint really looked recently but have they secured the rear 1/4 windows better than they did on the vr/vs? they just poped out without breaking then you can put them back in.

I had the battery die in mine at the car wash and the previous retarded owner had replaced the ignition barrel and key and not the door lock. A mash hammer and new door glass was cheaper than the public holiday call out fee the locksmith was gunna charge.
