No worries mate . It would also be great to listen to the stories first hand both my grandfathers used to tell about fighting in "The Great War " which at the time i was too young to appreciate. And to meet my older sister who died when i was very young .

The great war ? I remember all the story's of such when I was a kid with all the people from different nations going on and on about it all, them people loved talking about the war and that's how all the party's ended about what they did and all.
I have a Hebrew Sir name, so it was of great interest to me even from 6 yo I would ask questions to the end of the night, I would of now liked too ask my grandad some questions now, because he knew what he was talking about in depth and the others mainly talked of what they thought and there own personal little view and my grandad would wipe the floor with them all and did not care at all about what he said or the men he offended, because they did not have the knowledge to debate him, so they sulked about him.
I have talked to other high rank Aussies that were of great knowledge as to why this or that, most know bugger all worth truly in total depth.

But I would say I am glad to of been born when I was, great cars and mainly very nice honest people mainly about, sadly I can't say the same of todays people, so a old mate of mine has brought this subject up before and I would go back in time for sure but not at my age, maybe 21yo would be good, being old is totally crap.
But if I was looking back I would not work for my Dad from when I left school, to hell with that crap.
I would not be so trusting in people would be another.
I would maybe not go back in time but would warn and stand against the creepy world it's truly becoming I hate everything about Political Correctness and I do say that such people who follow such Satanic pathetic crap will have hell to pay for it ! It will enslave them just like the NAZI's and Communist did to the people.
The people of today have not learnt one thing worth a cracker about the hell of WW2 the ignorance is truly astounding not to mention a total disgrace, why do they want to become in slaved !!! to just moronic senseless simple narrow minded short sighted Marxist degenerate filth.
They are only going to live like crap and be lead to there deaths by the billions, just like cattle. these people are monsters pushing a utopia and the fact is anyone who pushes such is all ways a insane con-artist with a mad agenda.

i would change that hilter wouldn't live to see day light and put all those women,men and children through hell.i bet the government would have put in place better board control.when you live in a real world not a delusion one,you know this post is unhealth as the for people that have lost legs,loved ones e.t.c.and been through only downs in life its gonna be over emotional for some people and then who on here will support them.as for me I've had a bad life but it's only making me stronger and more determine wouldn't change a thing in my life i can do it and i wont complain, i'll just keep on fighting until the day i die

Going along with this line of thread - the classic car movement is for many people recapturing their youth. I notice that the older guys in my club (baby boomers) usually have cars from their respective youths. I am by far the youngest in the club (33). There is a guy who is 40, he has a sightly modded EH - everyone else has kinswoods, toranas, cortinas, Beetles escorts etc. as nice as they might be, in a nostalgic sense I simply cannot relate to those.

Related to another thread I have decided to flip my '81 Volvo and when I have saved up enough I am looking to get something nice from my youth. What would have 18yr old me wanted if he won the lottery in 2001? I'll be looking at either a E46 BMW 3-series 6-cylinder, or a VT-VY SS Commodore. Something that is actually nostalgic for me personally.

I think you are mainly correct in saying that, I was born in the 60's and the old cars don't do anything for me mainly, like when I was say 17yo the old dude next door showed me his 1930's chev sedan, he loved that car and I was like that's ok but I had no intention of driving it or wanting to own one, I appreciate them type of cars more now but I would not own one.
I never liked any Holden before the EH as I believed them to be just gutless backward crap.
With the Falcons were good and the MK3 Zephyr and with the Valiants from the SV1 to the VG were good as they went well and only chargers were cool from then on.
The earliest car my dad had that I remember was a new HD Holden and then a HR and then HK then a VG Valiant with a 2 barrel 245 hemi, I remember dad asking me if he should buy the VG or a Holden and I said the Valiant.
One of the cars that impressed me was the VW Beetle and combi how they road so smooth and the low down torque of the engines, so you did not have to rev the crap out of them.
Looking back now some cars that I disliked back then but now I like is the Holden Brougham.

I consider my self lucky to have a licence and to be able to of driven cars that were good V8 Holdens and Falcons, if I were born 10 years before I would of only had crappy gutless cars, but if I had good money I could of got a new V8 XR Falcon or V8 HK, cars before that were nothing to inspire you to drive.

For someone who is supposedly an enthusiast, my automotive history is quite banal. Two auto Corollas, 3 Mazda 3s, 2 six cylinder Commodores, Peugeot 306, Volvo 240 and a Nissan Patrol. No V8s! (Yet...)

Looking back on it the best car I had from a contemporary perspective was the 2008 Mazda 3 I bought new. First car I had that I genuinely liked. Modded it too, went like the clappers. I have a Mazda 3 again, 3rd gen model, now you'd think it'd be better but you sometimes just can't beat the original concept.
