I'm a firm believer that we need to look towards Singapore as an example and introduce corproral punishment.
Our softly softly approach to law and order is a joke. Offenders have no regard and respect for the law and know that they can do whatever they like and get away with it. This is why the situation is out of control.
Let me see how keen they will be to reoffend after they have received a brutal lashing.
Unfortunately, it will never happen as long as we have these leftist do-gooders in control of our country, but the way things are going, something drastic will have to be done because the current approach is failing miserably.

I remember watching a video a mate sent me a few years ago, might of been in Brazil or some 3rd world country.

it was a security cam video of these 5 or so guys pulling up on a corner where there 4 other guys sitting around. armed with machetes. they just started swinging at these guys. i remember seeing one part a guy was begging them to stop/protecting him self by putting his hand up, dont think he realised his arm was hanging on by a few strands... wish i didnt watch that video

Jails are full, just shoot the pricks.
The government created the problem and they have to be held accountable for there actions, why should the public have to fear trash like such running amok.
Its the power of political correctness that leads to degenerate governments that only encourages degenerates.

Sending criminals to somewhere else, doesn't fix the problem.
Out of sight > out of mind? Let some other person deal with them?

No. How about - giving people something productive to do. To earn money. To earn self respect.

Just an idea.

Many of the problems are caused by the socialist governments, they create a position that morons are given a free ride and then they claim they are entailed to all such special treatment being given everything, never working for anything and claiming being hard done by 24/7, but in fact they are the ones who disrespect all who help them.
The bastard degenerate generation it's called and it's a lost cause that will never be fixed because they are worthless degenerates that the only thing they can help, is themselves to what others have worked for, left to there own devises they could not cut the mustard to feed themselves but expect all others to respect all their whims to the letter, have as many kids they want with no regard at all for who is paying for it all and come the high and mighty against anyone like myself who points out that such take having another kid is a great responsibility financially just for a start.
It's the empowerment of such degenerate people nowadays that will destroy everything that our forefathers built our Nation on, just to be pissed up against the wall by degenerates who can't see past the next day, nor could they give a toss, the spoilt brats !

Boot camp is the best option for little brats.
Send them to some 3rd word nation, because they are on the path to only turn ours into one, because we have to many of them bleeding us dry, not to mention that some just will never have self respect regardless.

If workers don't pay tax in time we are treated very harshly and the ATO don't give a toss about such in hardship, but will roll out the red carpet for all degenerates, even if you are not a bloody citizen and that's f ing treating the working people like slaves, only too support all the idiot ideas that only a degenerate would support.

Some bad criminals just have to go, there has to be the threat to wake people up, send them to a Islamic nation and see how smart the criminal thinks of himself then, the hand gets chopped off for bugger all over their, not to mention the rest.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result - Anon

By trade I am a high school teacher at a small independent school.

There are many parallels between crime and student discipline.

Some teachers try the big stick approach - they get loud, shouty and treat the students like crap. They take misbehaviour personally. They 'crack down' on student behaviour - but guess what? They never succeed. As a teacher, if you get stressed out, it either is a reward for students seeking to cause disruption, or the stress and anger stirs students up more.

OTOH there are teachers who are calm, relaxed, don't take slurs or whatever personally and try to build rapport and working relationships with students. Their behaviour management is much better.

My point is that people who are criminals, arseholes or whatever are like that for a reason. They have learned bad attitudes and behaviours from negative role models in their lives. A golden rule in dealing with a difficult student is 'be nice to arseholes, as often they need the most love'.

Taking a young kid from a rough background, putting them in a degenerative environment like prison might be emotionally satisfying to a victim or the public in general and will sometimes set the offender straight. But in many cases it is at best unhelpful, at worst you've created a more hostile individual with even lower self esteem, possibly having learnt some things about how to be a more effective criminal. Case in point - the war on drugs. Hasn't worked. Period.

I'm not saying we should do away with prison but high rates of reoffending suggests something different might work. I am not absolving any crim of their personal responsibility - but sometimes things need to be a two way street.

C3PO - irrespective of background, upbringing, exposure to drugs / alcohol etc, wrong is wrong.

Those people sitting in cells know they have done something wrong as society has told them so by finding them guilty and incarcerating them. They chose to commit their crime and, in the case of recidivists, chose to continue to commit crimes.

There may be reasons why they do this but there is no excuse.

Yes absolutely. But after you have incarcerated someone 2-3 times and they are still reoffending, I would argue a different approach is required.
