so the plan for tonight:

finish cutting/fitting/fastening the last 8 slats
flip it, number the slats underneath
take the slats off one at a time, sand them down to a better fit, clean all the dags off the edges and just make them look nice.
scotchbrite the frame so it gets rid of surface rust and paint i used for marking
wire wheel off the blue paint from the feet
reassemble everything
tip sideways and liberally layer clear coat on the bottom
allow time to flash
drop back down and liberally coat everything else.

reckon ill need to mix up 600ml of clear, which is a lot, but i think the timber will soak up the clear, so maybe even need more. we shall see.

who reckons i can get that done tonight? finish work at 5... finish at maybe 11:30 again...6.5hours.. yeaaaah should be able to.

Ideally you should be getting a clear specifically for the timber, and yes your right, it'll soak it up like a bitch

if you wet the timber before you paint it should prevent the timber soaking in too much paint.

meh, im keeping costs low. so far its cost 44.40 in steel, the rest is just time or stuff i had laying around. i have clear coat, so thats what is happening, if it makes the timber go horrible, i will walk round the streets and find some more pallets :p

how cool is it you can have roofracks for under 50 bucks?

Here's a thought, and it's free... Used engine oil, protects the timber from the weather, and looks quite effective, works a treat on old fences
