Car looks good too bad about the stereo but I suppose if you look on the bright side you'll end up with better sound.

New install

Update on the calais:

Not a lot has changed, but I have managed to swap out the speakers in the doors.
Was easy enough to do, I've never taken apart anything except for the centre console in the VZ, but after the first door, we had the rest done properly, with wires soldered and heatshrinked and all holes drilled and looking like it was professionally done in about 20mins each!

Nice Calais though aj1987, get 20's but haha :p

Cheers, but only 18's or 19's. It's a daily driver so tyre cost will kill me with 19's or bigger :(

Yeah, I got an alpine headunit first, but the sound was really washed out, and because the new h/u was more powerful, there was A LOT of difference between volume settings, it was either quiet or loud.
So I bought the speakers to eliminated that issue, which it did. What was a good listening level at 10 is now perfect at 16 and allows for alot more control. With a little front fade on, the stock subs are now as they intended as a fill only, not crazy, although they can be if you change the fade/bass gain setting.

Made for a much clearer, crisper, more stylish sound.

To answer the question, yep, it made a hell of a difference, even with just Type S's.
$130 a set (x2) was pretty good, best money I've spent on the car thus far.

Cheers,
Aaron
