If the thrust bearing is riding on the clutch fingers when the clutch is out, then that is your problem.
The thrust bearing shouldn't be spinning with the clutch out.
If the yhrust bearing is stuffed then the noise should be apparent when the clutch is in.
I would be looking to see if the clutch fork is fully retracting as intended, if it is then the problem sounds more like the gearbox input shaft bearing as described in the earlier post.
