Here are the new hoon laws that will come into effect as of the 1st of November.

Good to see that making excessive noise is far more dangerous than high range drink driving :confused:

Being the offender involved in a police pursuit over here = mandatory detention.

I agree with decicrate, high range drink riving should be a Type 1 offence.

The only things that look like they could be unfairly inforced on the car enthusiast community are;
-Willfully starting or driving a vehicle that casues eexcessive noise.
-Driving an illegally modified vehicle

Otherwise, you've got whats coming too you.

Street racing is a dangerous business and driving drunk, unlicensed, unregistered or uninsured is just plain dumb.

Careless driving can also be abused by police (If that way inclined). Hit a white line because you dropped your wallet on the floor and tried to grab it? BAMM careless driving.

Not a very good example of police abusing power.

If you got caught and fined for careless driving after doing that, id say you got your just deserts.

The way that flow chart has been written though suggests they have charge with an offence in the list below after you've been caught during a speed trial, race between vehicles or a burnout.

Regardless of opinion on the offences, these stricter laws remain with the cops as judge, jury and executioner. That's always been my beef with this bullshit, not the laws themselves.

I wonder if these laws are going to filter down south of the borders...
