Example: A dog is on the road, you are doing 100 k's an hour, your reaction is to swerve to miss it - 9/10 times that sort of situation results in a loss of control and an accident, half the time killing passengers or the driver. what you should have done is brake and hold the wheel straight. The car might be damaged, but you are still alive.

There is no 'correct way' to deal with the above scenario,

The only way i would know to get out of that one is to put the foot down and get to 88 mph

Try Justcars insurance they are underwritten by AAMI and specialise in young drivers and modded vehicles.

I will say this in caps just to make sure everyone understands THIS IS MY FATHERS SV6
In a year I will be able to get my full drivers license at the age of 16.
After my birthday We will probably have another go at insuring the sv6 for me to drive (birthday is in April) and hopefully they will insure me which I think would be fair assumption because by that time I would have a year of driving experience.

i was having a lil trouble trying to understand sorry.
with their usual online calculators have you tried the different scenarios and ages. such as that of if you are 16 with a full licence?
is there any specific restrictions on the "restricted" licence in Nz that would stop you from driving that car in the first place? (any special clause or whatever)
if not as said above look around at other insurers and see what they will do.

he said he is going to be on his restricted licence in New Zealand, which is sort of like our P's in aus.
just like in aus you need to be covered in the insurance and im guessing (from what ive read) its not like on your L's whereby they sort of have to accept it.
putting it simply. they wont insure him to drive his dads sv6, and he is trying to find a solution

its a v6 so why would the cc rating be too high. its the same as a vs/vy/vz etc now isnt it?

The reason so many pplaters have accidents and DIE is because they are largely inexperienced and driving around in unsafe, cheap pieces of metal.
