Get a set of straight through 3" mufflers if you're just looking for sound, don't get straight pipes. Mufflers should be a few hundred.

No because your centre mufflers are still there it won't be as loud as a full catback system..

I've got a set of KPM mufflers if you're interested.

Wonder if this thread will be closed too. I'm sure there are a couple of active V8 exhaust threads going.

im looking at buying some 22's for my ve ss ute but i also want it to sound like a v8 so im under a budget. How does just replacing the mufflers stack up against a budget cat back system like an xforce? Im sure neither will sound a million bucks but i atleast want something better than the silent stock system
i just replaced my brothers ssv ute mufflers with a set of redback mufflers on the stock exhaust and sounds quite good.hes happy, for not much outlay.

There is someone selling a wilky exhaust cat back on eBay. 2.5 inch. Can't remember if it's for a ute or sedan

I've got just the redback mufflers on my SS and am pretty happy with the sound. Not too loud which is good for driving up and down the freeway every day, but sound good when you open it up. Such an easy job to change them over, do the mufflers and then if you're not happy with it, add in the catback section.
