Hey guys,

Is it possible to roll the kms back on a level 3 cluster?... Before you all go off im not doing it to be dodgy, I want to upgrade my cluster from a level 1 to a level 3, but want the kms to be the same. My car has done 133,000kms so its hard to find a cluster with the same number

Cheers, Errol.

Do it the legal way and take it and the car to Holden. That way too you have the receipt to prove km/s when you decide to sell or when authorities pick up on it..

As far as I know you need a special programming tool to do it. I think that a Holden Dealership can do it for you.

I'm pretty sure that the reading can only be changed if the odometer reads less than 100kms, otherwise its locked in, and Holden won't be able to change it.

You might have some luck with an instrument specialist, but you would have to provide and sign a statutory declaration that the original kilometre readings are correct, and they might be able to adjust the reading.

I'm sure there are other ways to do it too, but they will be illegal.

a VR level 3 cluster need a specific programming tool, any reputable instrument repairer should be able to do it.
legally you can put any reading you want provided you dont attempt to misrepresent the vehicles condition
if you need it altered pm me.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the information. I have no intention of selling the car anytime soon. I mean its no big deal if the readings wrong but ideally i would like it to be correct.

Ill talk to holden and see what they charge (although they wanted $1700 to change the injectors, fuel tank and pump on my car which i did myself for $180, so im assuming they'll try to rip me off).

Cheers, Errol.

Can you fit a Level 3 digital dash into an non digital harness?? my understanding was that you cant do this as the wiring harnesses are slightly different..

I have rebuilt and replaced my cluster , but really wanted the digital layout ones..

Yes it can be done, but you need the wiring harness, and or the adaptor, and there is something you have to hook up to the ECU to get a signal for one of the readouts. Plenty of people on here have done it though, so its definately possible if you are a little bit handy on the electrical side of things.

I think there are a few threads on here regarding level 3 cluster conversions, I think it is a matter of getting the correct wiring looms and connecting them up correctly.
