Is the vf2 able to run e85?

I thought E85 was only suitable for the late ve and series 1 VF.

Agreed. You can’t put E85 in a VF2.

if u were to fit the flex sensor and tune adjustments then its fine to run the e85 as much as u want, not sure if the VF2 got the bigger injectors ? u will need about 30% more duty cycle on the injectors to be able to use it safely so max about 80% duty to allow for yearly weather

I think the LS3 has a similar spec injector as the earlier flex models were superseded to. 42@58. I'd consider LS9-LSA to make the most of a tune. The pump flow might be difference

Injectors are the same as L77 (flex)
Not sure about pump

Lsa have a different spray pattern which doesn't suit NA

Pump is different. Recently had my L77 pump replaced at 270k km's, when it failed me on the first day of the year!

What's the power gain between 98 and e85 on a N/A LS? Reason I ask, it is considerably more expensive to run a car on e85. You're at around $2.20ish per litre then approx 30% higher fuel consumption on-top of that.

The decision to include the flex sensor was made at a time when ethanol blends were starting to become popular and it looked like they might take off ... and I also suspect (unsure - would have to Google to check) that the government wasn't charging the fuel excise on ethanol either ... there were more players in the higher-% ethanol-blend game and there was definitely a time when E85 was cheaper than ULP98 at any servo's near me. The variable-percentage one (was it BP?) was cheaper again.

So it made sense when that decision was made, production time lag probably means ethanol was already losing ground by the time flex-fuel cars came out though (VE2?). :)

You'd only use it now if you're willing to pay any amount to get that extra ~20hp ... or you're being an obsessive about running E85. :)
