Nothing wrong with 95 , just not from a supermarket .

As above, in future stay away from any of those nasty supermarket chain petrol stations. Just for the record though unless your car is tuned for it you won't see any real additional benefits from using 98ron as its been suggested, plus ultimate is quite a bit more expensive per litre.

I will try BP next time and see if that makes a difference. Thanks

Check the fuel filter again maybe? As posted earlier the tank may be full of trash.
Did you fit the new filter the correct way around so the fuel flows through it the right way?

I got the mechanic to check if I screwed up. All good. Cheers...

Have you pulled some fuel out to look at it? No point looking at hardware if the fuel is kero and water.

Will do this. Thanks

A few possible causes for P2178 and P2180, High fuel pressure, Leaking fuel injector or pressure regulator, Failed MAF.

Thankyou. There is no sign of excess fuel in the oil. Will check the other suggestions.

Ok, this is where I am at.

Last week I put $20 worth of shell 95 in and drove it around until today.
Ran fine. Started ok after the topup. No stalling and ****...

Today I filled up with BP 95. Filled to first click.
Started the car and it immediately stalled.
Then it took about 10 seconds of turning over to get it to start.
Ran like **** again. Flashed up Check Drivetrain on the dash then went away.
Drove home and could smell the exhaust fumes when pulling into the driveway.

WTF is going on here????
Only happens when I fill the tank?

Could be a faulty purge valve, stuck open.

I think you have nailed it. I gave it a few taps with a screwdriver and it started clicking away and the idle smoothed out.
Will replace it and see how it goes next fill up. Thanks

For future reference this issue has been resolved.
The replacement of the purge valve has fixed the problem of the rough running after filling up and has made the car run generally smoother.

I have linked this forum post to my original post about a noisy purge valve.

And my youtube video of the purge valve.

Thank you for all your suggestions and SID888 you rock!!!

In NZ there is a supermarket chain called Pac and Save , who also sell fuel at self serve stations at the stores , I wouldn't run my lawn mower on their fuel .

Fairly sure the Pack'n'slave fuel actually come from BP ;)

They also have very high turn over so that shouldn't be an issue (definitely on 91, don't know about 95).

These days I run Caltex 95 and I'm fairly happy with it.

my 2 cents - if you see a fuel truck parked at the servo, go to the next servo or wait a day or so. fuel entering the servo tank from the truck will stir up crap in their tanks.
