well, street commodores did an article with their "STREET" monaro project years back- replaced the engine, gearbox and diff oil with Royal Purple stuff and got a repeatable 4kW gain, so there is lots to be said for different viscositys/shear strengths having different results...

dropping the oil in an auto and changing to other stuff for the drags- sounds scary. Seeing how there is so much relying on oil in an auto, i wouldnt be game....

I've heard of people doing the same with diffs as well. Thinner oil in the diff- would be worth it tho? compared to the engine and auto (lots of oil) there aint that many rotating parts in a differential, i wouldnt think the gains would be as great.

For 4kw sounds like it is not worth it; better of spending the money on other mods.

Back in Perth my mate had a manual gearbox for the oil, but still at 4kw overall maybe the gearbox gave him a whole 1kw lol

ok so based on everything in this post.
My car is putting out 230.7 rwkw, so does this mean that if i add 1/3 to the rwkw, that it will give me an approx fwkw figure
if so. this means my car is approx 307 fwkw. is this correct?

my method of work out is 230.70rwkw divide 33.3% = 76.82
then 230.7 + 76.82 = 307.52 fwkw.

which is different to the whole rwhp = fwkw. cos if that is so, then my car is 313 fwkw ( was worked on using a kw to hp converter - 230.7 kw = 313 hp)

F*%k its a weird subject, so many variables etc

RWKW and 1/4 mile times are the best way to judge a car. If it isn't getting to the tyres it isn't really relevant

My car is 230.7 rwkw
i ran a 13.8 @ 104mph with traction loss in 1st, 2nd & 3rd down the strip.
what kinda numbers should i be expecting if i can get traction? would it be good for a 13.7?

i rekon you should run a low 13 aye mate, is yours a Manual ???

Im assume you got full exhaust, cold air intake and Mafless tune ???

Maybe a 13 flat if you get perfect launch and shifts - ( tyres, weather etc will also affect your time though)
