Yeah I did. For a .22, but I think the shopping will go a bit further than that.

Good job.
Do you have any shooting experience?

Little bit of spotlighting and plinking here and there, nothing excessive. Lot to learn but I'm keen if nothing else.

Cool, was just going to point out stick with the .22 for a while. See too many new shooters go too big to soon and end up developing a flinch, etc.
My cousins friend, with 0 experience, got a .308 straight off the bat. Wants to come hunting with me but I won't take him, he thinks hitting an 8" plate @ 100m is good shooting :s

I have been told that a few times, technique first. And I'm happy going down that path, time to save always helps to.
Although now the paperwork is through I will no doubt feel like a kid in a candy store everytime I walk into the lgs

I found when i first started shooting I'd flinch pretty bad. After a while it went but the one time I realised it was totally gone was when I was at the range and didn't count my shots (probably because there was a magpie directly in line with my target which made me lose count) and when I pulled on an empty chamber there's wasn't a hint of movement.

I have to say about shooting last night, the 12 gauge didn't kick anywhere near as bad as my brother in laws Nagant. I was expecting a huge thump but it was hardly noticeable.
