So apparently I have air shocks?

I bought some low King Springs and took em to Jax to get fitted. I go to pick it up and and the bloke says "have a look at this".

He'd installed the springs, and the car was still sitting at stock height (maybe even a few mm higher). Then he stands on the tow bar and starts bouncing, and the car doesn't give at all. Like not even a little, it was a rock. He ask's if I've got air bags in the back, I said I have no idea.

He then gets under the car, fiddles around behind the wheel, then pops the boot and pumps air into a valve, then releases it. Next thing you know the car is lowered. He said he pushed the shock up and that let the car be lowered.

Is there anything I should know about, having a lowered car with air shocks?

air shocks only make it harder or softer i think

poly air bags go in-between to stop the car bottoming out when towing

If you've got air shock in there. Pull them out and throw them as far as you possibly can. They're a throw back from the '70s and have no place in any car any more.

See that's what I thought too! I don't know enough about suspension though to call him out, so I just kinda listened to what he had to say. Either way, the bloke got the car lowered when no one else at the place could.

If you have air shocks and you want the car to sit low then let the air out of the shocks.
If you want the car to sit higher then put air in the shocks.
Did he show you the valve (looks like a tyre valve) if not then get under the car and follow the plastic tube from the shocks to the valve and use a match or something as small to push the valve needle in to release the air and lower the shocks.
Air shocks are usually only used for towing heavy trailers/caravans etc

sounds like a another twit doing a job he dont understand , sounds to me like they jammed the bags into the upper shock housing then inflted them to push them out allowing the car to ride down on the springs , common mistake when morons change the springs with little or no air in the air shocks allowing the bags to be caught inbetween the upper and lower housing of the shockers . i would recommend that you inspect the air bags on the shockers for cuts and damge from this twit
