Well I need to thrash that hole open so the tow ball tongue won't touch the sides but whatever I insert in there has gotta line the bumpers walls too

Measure it then file it.
I had to do the same with my vt wagon.

Had sikaed & fibreglassed vx ss lower lip, then painted. Haven't been able to track down one of surrounds to clean it up.

Yes the muffler is there. Just need a extension piece, because that lip covers (hides) the muffler.

I agree about the "commodo & right side badge". Just haven't got around to it yet.
Wanted to replace the whole tailgate with one that doesn't need repairing or painting.
