2006 VE Omega, factory dual fuel, 380,000kms.

Running on petrol, starts good and normal all the time except when it is a hot day, say 35c + and the engine is warmed up. It will crank but fail to turn on or will turn on with difficulty, or will require 3-4000rpm of revs while cranking and then a few revs to keep it on.

Any ideas?

do you mainly run on gas? may be possible the tips of the injectors are blocked up with a tar like residue gas can leave

Normally it runs on gas but at the moment it's running on petrol as it needs a new gas converter, waiting for it to get in. I understand there are seperate injectors in the engine for gas and petrol?

yes they do, the gas injectors are mounted ontop of the manifold and uses the black hoses drilled into the manifold to deliever the vapour

If it's starting on petrol, even if the gas injectors were blocked up, wouldn't that have no effect?

the gas injectors? but would that not come into it if it is being started and run on petrol at the moment while the starting trouble is happening?

No he's saying the petrol injectors are probably gummed up from using gas all the time. Because the petrol injectors arent firing you get a buildup on the end of the injector. Now that you started using petrol the injectors may need to be cleaned. What can happen is the injectors leak once you turn the car off and bleed fuel into the cylinder which fouls the plugs and results in hard starting.

Oh I understand now. If this problem is only happening on very hot days, would that be reminiscent of clogged petrol injectors? Also, what would the approximate cost be for parts and labour for a set of plugs?
