Cant really tell 100% but want to say vn due to bolt in sender & oval eclectrical plug.

Does it have return line fitting on driver's side of tank?

Top of tank where filler neck goes can you see rubber joiner for filler to tank or is it joined to tank?

Should be able to jack car up high on jackstands...take bottom bolt out of sender unit fuel should leak out to drain decent amount out or if easier trigger fuel pump to run from relay or hotire it.
Yes it does have a return fitting (tho not connected by the looks of it)

Yeah sweet - plan to do the pull out Monday. Rare spares have a sender unit for a VN in stock on hold for me if needed

Bottom of the filler neck is what you want to see to see if removable or not.

Curious what fuel pump is in it if it's carby car.

Have you earthed out sender wire to see if gauge works?

Should also be able to hook up multimeter to check sender unit...specs on forum when do a search.
