VE S2 SV6 Commodore
Hi All, hoping for some help if anyone has had a similar issue.

I've got a VE SERIES 2 Sv6 with startup issues. Everyday it starts fine and i can drive to work. If i stop on the way for 5 mins, to get fuel or coffee, it wont start when i get back in. Nothing happens when turning the key and then i get the contact dealer alert and engine light comes on the dash. Ive plugged in a scanner and get the generic code u0100 lost communication with ECM/PCM. If i wait 20-30mins, the car will start again. Mechanic had a look and couldnt make sense of the codes and thought it might be a bad earth. He checked all them but still the same issue. The car runs fine when its driving. Its like it needs to cool down before it will restart after driving for a bit? Any ideas?

Yep. Can listen to music, aircon works, just get nothing when trying to start the car. 30mins later the car will start. Its like it needs to cool down. Ive read it might be a faulty ecu

Same here but I get stability control issues and the check engine light does no illuminate. I charged the battery and it started but it’s happened again 4 time in the last two days. Car won’t start or turn over. And the front relay for the drive train clicks when I try to turn over the car. Help!

Found items below to check

What are the Possible Causes of the DTC U0100?

NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
  • Check for more codes
  • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) / Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
  • ECM/PCM harness is open or shorted
  • ECM/PCM circuit poor electrical connection

I've also had the stability control alert show up a few times. Was going to get a new battery today but the guy checked it and said its fine. A few people have said in a commodore facebook group that its probably a faulty ecu. They said it have issues "waking up" when the car is hot. Can anyone verify this?

Ahh yes !
Fakebook !!!
Full of Fake Ex-Sperts !

Depends on the amount of K's the car has done, and if its the Original Alternator, it could be giving signs of failure
A lot of faults are cause by issues with the fluctuating Charge voltages,
VE's [and some other models] require a constant level voltages when charging,
VE's monitor all the systems in the vehicle and see's its critical to keep stable voltages within the systems to run in sync.
If it see's an over voltage, or under voltage, it can trigger the MIL and record a DTC,
it can shut down systems to conserve the power status to be able to either get it home [if close by] or pull off the road safely,
That said, check the charge voltage on -
Start up,
Idling after a few minutes,
When up to Temperature,

It can vary a bit, but idle voltage should be around the 14.3 > 14.7 approx.

Some easy and local testing can be done to eliminate some costly repairs.

I've also had the stability control alert show up a few times.

What DTC did that log ?

Was there any Over or Under voltage DTC's ?
