I was at home adjusting the stereo settings today listening to some different tracks trying to work out if I should improve the sound at all.

I set up the bass to full and upped the mid and treble also. I feel the bass is just coming in nicely but could use a little more. The parcel shelf area starts to resonate.

I have been searching and reading up what others have done and I was thinking about keeping the parcel shelf sub setup with out and sub box in the boot.

Although this could be a simpler option.

My thoughts are start with some simple options first.

1. Dynamat the rear parcel shelf.

2. Upgrade the sub amp. Not sure how simple it is to use the existing wiring.

3. Upgrade the 8" subs in the parcel shelf.

Doing these one at a time and see how they improve things.

Has anyone tried these steps before?

Have you tried turning up the sub amp itself ?

Assuming it is the same as VE.

I did have a look at the amp after reading about that possibility but I don't think this one has the option.

Did the VF have a polarity problem on the subs like the VE?

Generally free to air subs don't perform all that well, enclosed sub or ported & amplifier is what you want.

After watching this guy tap into the speakers, is it ok to link an amp this way.

Is this what level input is for? Hi - Lo being amped source or not amped?

Hi level input is what you want using speaker wire connections.
If you were upgrading the headunit you would use RCA connection.

There will be a guide or post somewhere on this forum for the speaker wire colours & location to tap into.

Took the parcel shelf out today. I realised its prob been 25 yrs since I pulled apart a car like this. 6'5" and 50 yrs old and im not as nimble as I used to be
Found some more hidden boxes. Anyone know what these are?
Measured up the subs in case I do decide to replace what is there. Sound deadened most of the holes up on top and put some behind the seat on the large area.
Also a good chance to get some leather treatment on the seats while out.

Sounds better. I will leave for a few weeks and see how I like it.
