Hey guys I’m trying to put a vy Ecotec into my vu Ute and the engine mounts aren’t lining up with the mounting spots in the chassis by around 45mm should I take the mounts off my old engine and put them on or is there any other way around it or is it completely different in general. Thank you

Is the a/c compressor still on?
If not remove the top a/c idler pulley.
Now you have access to the engine mount bolts, that bolt to the engine.
This is on the passenger side.

Lower engine into place, drop the drivers side first.
Now you can loosely bolt the passenger mount to the kframe. Then lower the motor until the engine mount holes line up with the engine holes. Bolts in & tighten all the bolts up.

Install a/c pulley & a/c compressor.

This should get you there? Its not a hard job.

As above, the mounts are identical so just need a bit of manipulation to get into place.

How did you go tightening the mount to the engine after it was installed?

Are the after market whiz bang "lifetime cobra" mounts any better and easier to install ? Seems they have extra pivot point to avoid what the OP had.

You will feel more vibration with those as they are solid rubber, not hydraulic like the factory mount.

They are a very nice mount though, I have a pair here for a new build :)
