Hi all,

I am once again suffering from welding flash. This is the second time in the last year. I am thinking it has to be from my helmet which is a auto darkening one.
So it is time to replace it. I am wondering what brands everyone is using or what ones that you recommend to use or stay away from.
Luckily i have done no permanent damage but i dont want to risk it.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers Shane

9100xx Speedglas w/Adflo (just a personal thing), used a 9002xx before that, best helmets around, The extra wide view is very handy too. The cheap auto darkening ones are rubbish, especially if you want to use them to grind with, the Speedglas flips up so you have a clear lens to grind with whilst still having the adflo on.

After you've used on of these bad boys, you'll wonder how the fk you ever welded with out one. Especially when your welding something like gal or zinc anneal

I have an older style Speedglas (not as fancy as that^^one) and it's been fantastic. I've had it for about 10 years and it's still going strong, i weld fairly frequently aswell. It was about $600? back in the day, but it was worth every cent. I've never had welding flash since.

Have you ever used one? It keeps fumes out from alley, zinc and flux cored like they're nothing, even when you're grinding, all you smell is fresh air, best thing I've brought for my trade hands down.

Might not be suitable for where he works. It sure as hell wouldn't last 5 minutes where I work.

depends what you want to spend really speedglass are awesome but if your not really interested in space travel i have a lincoln electric which i think is great and handles floating around in my tool box without any worries. it also has the large viewing lens which is extremely handy. my old man has a miller which is pretty much the same and you can pick up for around $300 now. mine is a lincoln electric hemisfear
