as all above had said it is up to you.

look into the resale values.
especially seeing you want an 8 when your off your p's i would assume you would sell and get the 8

also seeing your avatar is Yamaha. i would assume you could potentially have or be getting a motorbike.
owning a ute you can just chuck it in the back

You are comparing apples and oranges. What kind of car do you really want? Decide what you want your car to do first, then which one to choose will become obvious.

The Mazda is the better quality car IMO but it may not be the right car for you.

I was typing out basically the same post... then I say this so...

+1 on above... :p

Capri it's just me and the girlfriend so two seats is all i really need.

Dakster I'd use the ute to carry a bike around and just general use. Really it's a self indulgent choice, I'd love to own a ute. The Mazda is probably the more logical choice being a 5 seater and can tow as well. The fuel should balance out since the Mazda uses ron 95 and they're similar economy from what I've seen.

Drewie my friends mate has the luxy sport and they love it to death.

Cheers boys for the replies.

If you're towing, I'd go the Commodore. I mean if you're just towing a bike on a trailer you'll be ok I think, but if you want to tow a boat or similar, I'd steer clear of the Mazda myself.

I'll give it a shot, parents had a Mazda 6 not a Luxury Sports but it was still a great car.

Mazda should be alright for the towing I'd do. Redbook says it's rated for 1000kgs towed braked so it should be all good.

There's no utes for sale that I like and there's a decent Mazda I'll check out. Sick of waiting so IDK.

Buy a V6 Statesman, good on fuel, can tow, the bike will fit in the boot (probably not but it can still tow it), its a luxury car, win.
