If you weld a plate in and all around the plate it won't break .. ever.. Most people who do it and it breaks is because they dont know how to weld properly.

Just think about truck tow balls are welded they tow like 10ton plus do they break???

Then a spool should be there aswell. All are illegal and just as dangerous. Only thing wrong with welding it up is you cant undo it and put it back to stock.
A custom made spool is going to take a week at least cost ****loads. Welding will take an hour and wont cost f all.

Its up to you if your prepared to throw the money at it by all means get a custom spool made
