if it does hit the unlock button and then immediately try to start
is the red mode led flashing when you try to start

Actually, I tried to glue something on my key a while ago and glue exploded all through it. It hasn't locked since. The pieces are all coming together now lol.
Ill get a new key and post the result.

First up, keep ya foot of the throttle when starting.

Secondly, it is acting like a security issue. Like the key to BCM interrogation has failed, causing the starter relay and injectors to disable

Start with the new key like you have mentioned above and see what happens.

Solved! I took the spark plugs out and they were caked in carbon build up. I replaved them and also sprayed a can of carby cleaner in the plug holes. It blew out a heap of smoke. The whole yard was smoky lol. It must have cleaned it up well because it starts and runs great. Starts first time now. Ill give it another hit of carby cleaner next weekend.

If that is the case, grab a can of Nulon Foaming Air Intake Cleaner.
Despite its name, it can be and is used to clean carbon build ups from the combustion chamber.
Foaming Air Intake Cleaner- Nulon Australia

Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner does the same trick.

Then you need to figure out why it carboned up so bad
