i just took apart my key to replace my battery n need abit of help, i managed to get the head open n battery out n replaced with a new one ( A CR2032 )
and slid it between the metal prongs n pushed them together ( pressed between the board n my screwdriver handle) and the buttons wont work (wont lock/unlock)

Do i need to weld the battery to the progs? or what am i missing?

negative side is down, posative up.

The battery needs to be soldered in.

or better still buy a new remote so you have 5 years of trouble free operation

My VX SS keys are the original 10 year old keys, they have not had much use car has only done 75,000km and the keys seem to still be ok, first sign of trouble I will get the local locksmith to program me a couple of new ones. If the key dies suddenly, can you still open and start the car until you get a new key?

Yep

When i got my car, buttons disintegrated and battery dead as a door nail.

Was able to unlock and start the car fine.

Took it to Mr Minit and got a new full key for $120

In the interim, i ordered a new shell, and when arrived, took apart original key remote and changed battery and works brilliant.

Trick i used, wasnt able to solder the battery onto the terminals,
i placed some sponge on the base where battery would sit, soldered some wire from bottom terminal on board and put wire on top of sponge and place battery on top
and from other top terminal sodlered wire again wire on top side of battery and put some sponge on top of that, creating like a sandwich and pressure keeping things in place.

Crude and rude but worked a treat.

New shell is great and cost me $10, and so using the original remote internals in new shell and key.

ill solder it in n see if it makes a difference but i dont see how itll help as the negative/poitive prongs are already touching the battery..

also the key wont unlock the door, could that be because i dead locked it (double locked) or maybe the ignitions been changed?

either way ill try with solder if not i guess ill have to call a lock smith.

Glue wire should work.

I basically was at a stage where solder would not stick onto battery, was 2am and nothing open of course so came up with the sponge sandwich idea.

Regarding key/deadbolt.

So you deadbolted it? Also changed the ignition?
