Hi
A couple of weeks ago as I was turning left, another driver to the right of me hit my car right on my drivers side door (I believe he was trying to make the same left hand turn but because the car behind me was parking he sped around me)
After us both pulling over the other driver kept stating the damage was under $200 to repair and he was trying to wipe the damage away. As he did not want to exchange details, I contacted the police at the scene for them to arrive. Before I could finish the call the other drive just drove off after verbally abusing me.
Two weeks later and after doing a police report, the officer tells me his story is different to mine, no other witness present except one passenger in my car and a passenger in the other car which is useless. He drives off and Im calling the police and still I look as guilty as him. He gets away free from everything and Im left with damage estimated to be upwards of $2000. I want avoid paying my $650 excess. His car was worth $1000-1500 with damage everywhere and the police say to me there isn't consistent damage on his car??
Can anyone tell me if they know someone in Sydney, northern beaches pref, who could repair this? Or is this a smash repairer job only?
I just dont understand the logic of people hitting a car, with a 80% chance of no one acting as witness, and getting away free by simply driving off.
cheers
