I was under impression it was the slightly better option pack that the SS, Calais and stuff had?

With the SS It's like almost having an SSV, you get some of the options but not all of them.

With the others it's like the same but a sporty/special upgrade option pack.

No, it says old style VE V8. V8 badge is not unique to SSV however an SSV may have that badge.

Nothing to do with trim or options.

sorry i have to disagree matey, please explain what the 2006 commodore V is then? i believe is it based on the omega which is definitely a 3.6 LY7 no V8 as statedand basically a couple of trim upgrades etc as Major Herbie said.

Holden Commodore (VE) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia have a gander in there under Spec levels

Haha we are at cross purposes both helping the OP... yes there are vspec V6 but they do not have a V8 badge do they?!

Yeah, I think you've got it wrong Pirate.

You could get a Calais V in a V6 variant, and also just a Commodore V which is basically an up-spec Omega (as above).

Then there's obviously the SSV and Calais V V8. :)
