I didn't drive it all that much when it got really bad.
I did think that maybe the plugs (Bosch Platinum Plus) where damaged, after all that popping and farting, but on inspection they were fine.

Made up 8 heat shields for the Eagle Eliminator 9mm plug leads yesterday.
At $35.00 ea from Holden.......No way.

A $5.00 piece of 21mm ID aluminium tube, cut them to size (55mm).
Gave them the once over with some 800 wet and dry and then a polish with some Autosol metal polish.
Still have to make the cut outs on top, for the lead's plugs to fit correctly.

Might get them powder coated later on......Save taking them off and polishing them all the time.

Bit slow....
My friend that's doing it, is away working.
No rush. I've still got the Fli Trap one.

Much better than $280 ...
Can you believe that? It's criminal.
Actually, there's six, not eight, so it would be $210.....
Numbers 7 and 2 don't have them, as they're not fully surrounded buy the exhaust manifold.
But I made and fitted 8. Looks more complete.
Buy the time I cut and polished them,
It only took an hour.

Instead of cutting out notches in the shields. I might just cut those little tabs off the lead plugs,
so the heat shields seat properly, be a bit easier.

Surely they would not be there without a purpose. Maybe it is to stop the original sleeves rotating with vibration, which could cause problems over time.

Maybe......
The sleeves are a firm fit and cant go anywhere.
Anyway, I see how I go.

Got the timing done today......Finally.
Purr's like a lion.
