SS Commodore - Ford Territory ... both camps
There are some conflicting messages about how much oil I need for this.

Some sources say 1.3L and others 2.3L.

I tend to think 1.3 L is correct ?

From memory 1.3 is correct, meaning you can't quite get two changes out of that 2.5L Penirte bottle.

Holden wants $145 to do it.

Reasonable?

Seems a bit pricey

Don't ya hate that. I much prefer getting diff oil in the original 4 litre containers.

More typical highway robbery from Holden.

They sell the oil for $45 for 1L ! Supercheap sells Penrite 2.5L at Supercheap for $66.99. Sparesbox sells it for $61

So it costs almost $100 to drain the oil and refill !?

Sounds like 10 min job at most given the car will be up on the hoist anyway.

I was happy for the sake of convenience to pay up to $100 for this, but now I will do it myself...

Buy the 2.5 litre bottle and you will have heaps left over. Unfortunately, as already said, there's not quite enough to do it twice.

If they are only doing a diff oil change, maybe the price isn’t too bad if they includes the good oil in that cost. But if they already have it in the air and its part of a bigger service, it seems like a bit of a rort.

If you do it yourself, just make sure you undo the filler bolt first, before you undo the drain bolt and dump the oil. There would be nothing worse than having no diff oil and not being able to get the filler plug off

So these must be drain and filler plugs...

I am suprised to see them on the side of the diff.

These are generally at the back, and easily accessible....
