Is it worth upgrading from an SV6 to a SS?

Nothing wrong with my manual VE SV6.
Much better box than the tremec in the SS manuals too.

1:1 in 5th rather than 2 overdrives in the tremec.

Plenty of torque between 2500-3500 around 600Nm iirc
Rarely ever go full throttle. Before I know it I'm at the speed limit with 50% even.
These days I leave the ESP button on in the wet

OTR - Full exhaust system and a tune.

Oh and manifold spacers between the plenum and the manifold are the main increase in torque.

Saying all this... In late 2021 the way fuel is going... I'm getting a Corolla Hybrid
It’s late 2021 now.

I have been considering upgrading to a VF2 6.2L SS.

Is the low end torque much higher going from 0-60 or 0-80km/h? (If you have driven both)

Am I getting anything else worthwhile except a bigger engine? (already got satnav)

How is the fuel economy for someone with a lead foot? (I get about 12-14L/100km)

Should I just swap for a XR6 Turbo and get it tuned for more power? (considering anything under 25k with great power to weight ratios and great reliability)

If anyone has any personal experience or thoughts I would love to hear it, Cheers.

I wouldn't upgrade from a SVG to a SS as I've never noticed any tangible difference between the two.

The XR6T might have a fine engine but the rest of the car should be left in the '90's.

It’s late 2021 now.

Oh I know lol like fuel $2+ a litre now.
Crazy high prices now.

Definitely not the time for big capacity petrol cars to be daily driven.

Pfft. It's only money, turn it into smiles. Your 600nm v6 must use a lot of juice lol

Sadly 6 months of unemployment from Covid has made money a valuable commodity.

SS Commodore - Ford Territory ... both camps
Give me a rear drive Cruze with a 5.0 Holden V8 in.

That would be my ultimate.

Far better sound and high RPM reliability than the Chev V8s.

The iron Lions needed big mods to cope with even 6500 reliable rpms. This is standard redline on an LS.

Yeah fair call. I just noticed you're from the internment state

Some people would have you believe it's like this.

Laughs in LPG. Paying $1.10 per litre of gas. Shed load better then paying $2.20 per litre for petrol!
