Honestly, that sort of sounds me and my time with my VX, except I went with a built transmission and a blower

Lucky for me, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, my Mrs obviously wasn't wearing her glasses when we first met
Maybe they were rose coloured glasses, hahahaha.

But yes, for parts, but once, cry once
This is my thoughts too. Initial cost might be a little more but at the end of the day nothing I've repaired I've had to so a second time on the VE.

Some things like the diff I've gone overboard but I see it as future proofing. Just like building a 4L60. Other things I've only done because it annoyed me, not because it failed a safety inspection I've had three of those and never failed one. I'm a car enthusiast though so am pretty fussy about doing things well. Maybe that's the difference?

Exactly, and not many people will get the opportunity to own a HSV. I think it would be a shame not to bring it back to a level of repair it deserves. Yes some stuff has been fixed and yes improvements have been made but I don't believe we will see the quality of repairs such a car deserves while under Paul's ownership.
I always like to see cars kept close to factory but without the mass produced constraint that accountants place on them but I recognise that’s not the case for all as taste and the desire to mod is very individual, so each to their own

And though I always aspire to the “do it once do it right” mantra sometimes the “don’t let perfect get in the way of good” kicks in because “life” :p

Really, if Paul is happy to do stuff as he wants and it’s within his time frame and budget then that’s ok by me. If his work isn’t done in way I’d do it and it doesn’t last that’s also ok as it’s his time and money. Really advice is given freely, so it’s for him to take it or leave it as he pleases.

In the latest saga, hopefully the flywheel won’t depart from the crank but at the end of the day people have gambled with delaying repairs and gambled at casinos since the dawn of time… Hopefully that event won’t happen and if it does hopefully Paul will post some picks and won’t crack the shites with his punting priorities :p

As is, I just have to think back at the early thread pics to see he’s made huge improvements compared to how it first looked when he got it (if I’m remembering correctly it was ghastly). Has he done the cleanup and repairs as I’d have done it, no. But he’s not me. Has he taken my advice when given, may be sometimes, may be not at all… In either case that’s ok.…

One day, if Paul sells the car, someone may by it and return it to concourse condition or may return it to its initial ghastly condition… in either case it will be their car to do as they please

In the mean time I find this thread and the hsv interesting in its progression/evolution…

I don't think I've made a reference to the broken TC bolts but I don't see it ending well if they don't get replaced as a priority over other things like blue LEDS.

No you didn’t.
I just made a general comment coming off what @vc commodore said so probably should have quoted him in my post.

Definitely a big gamble driving with the flex pate the way it is. I don't know what would happen if those last two bolts shear off. But I do wonder if it has the potential to do some major and costly damage?

Good thing about JC is we are here to give advice and we would hope people would take that advice on board and fix something that has the potential to go wrong in a biģ way. I sometimes wonder if Paul would be be better suited to an FB Commodore page than JC because he does seem to like wasting money online when buying his parts made by Sum Ting Wong. Just an observation.
