Hmmmm..... 5.9 atm. I have a *lot* of work to do. Sigh.... I guess the drivers seat is all that will be going back into the VP for a bit :D

yeah its surprising the amount of work i think ill need to get an extra second off. when i compare mine to luke's old VP running the same as mine, he was running 5.11 seconds. his had a bigger exhaust, higher boost, a good engine, 3.45 spooled diff, 5 speed manual, and probably a better tune. all that got one second quicker than mine. ive got a lot of work to get 4.9

thats what i must have got confused by. i wonder if we should post up what we plan on doing to our cars to get them faster, or just post them when theyre done and post results

Yeah, i reckon ppl should post there secrets, to help other fellow competitors out.

One of the problems with my car is its weight :(
But... im not too keen to start ripping crap off a HSV.
But we shall see....
ATM, my plans to go fast are mainly diff and heads/cam

my plans are new engine, 10-12 psi of boost, bigger exhaust, spool with 3.45s, maybe some weight reduction, and possible head work.

if people want to be posted up in the first post, just reply with your cars details in a similar format and it will be updated

Im gonna give it a damn good go, although my chances are pretty low. Would be nice for the first car to get under 5s to be a wagon :D

Planned engine work over the next 3 months...(buick V6)

Port and polished heads (flow tested)
Forged pistons + racing piston rings
Larger cam + roller rockers/springs etc
larger throttle body
vortec supercharger + FMIC @ (hopefully) 12-14psi
custom ECU/upgraded injectors/engine oil cooler
LSD (not sure on gearing yet)

What do you guys think? under 5 seconds is probably a bit hard with a V6/Wagon combination, but im going to give it my best.

have updated for you feistl. i assume your engine is currently stock? im not sure how the vortechs go in terms of acceleration, might be a little slow off the line, but should still see a decent time if you get it all done right.

the problem with the manual trans and buick V6 with 3.45 gears is that you run out of puff in 2nd gear before you make 60mph which means you need to get 3rd gear which costs you a bit of time without power going to the rear wheels. you really need to rev it out over 5500rpm and the buick just doesn't make any power here unless it's cammed with decent heads on it. the autos don't ahve this issue
