    vp whining noise when accelerating.

okay so the problem persists. and i have narrowed it down a little so hopefully someone can help me. the whine happens when reving the engine. it happens in all gears (P,R,N or D). I have also taken the drive belt off and it continues so it can't be a pulley... any help would be greatly...

    vp whining noise when accelerating.

it seems as though the whining noise has gotten quiter since changing the diff oil and the idler pulley. i'm thinking maybe the uni joints are worn pretty bad which may be causing the clunk when engaging gears. other then that the only problem i am having it that after leaving my car overnight...

also checked the tensioner bracket and it seemed solid so thats a good sign. got the tensioner pulley today from repco for around $27 and it was steel not plastic which i was happy about :)

    vp whining noise when accelerating.

just replaced the tensioner pulley and changed the diff oil. i used some saf-xa fully synthetic rear axel oil but that hasn't seemed to help much. would it mean the diff pinion bearingscould be on the way out? also, now that i think about it the noise may be coming from the engine... or maybe i...

    vp whining noise when accelerating.

Thanks heaps vp s-pac 2nd owner and dans vz. I will change the tensiomer straight away. But the whine is really. Loud so i am hoping its a simple fix. Diff oil and drive belt were only changed 3.months ago. Its more of a whine / howl. And deffinitely gets louder with revs too

    vp whining noise when accelerating.

thanks heaps guys. i am aware that my tensioner pulley for the belt has gone. it tends to rattle and cause vibrations a fair bit. but i am pretty certain the noise is coming from the diff. so i might get a diff specialist to have a look at it. and thanks thebot123 but i have a gregory's manual...

    vp whining noise when accelerating.

hi all. got a bit of a problem with my vp. i've searched through the site but i am unsure whether anyone has the same problem as me. when driving my car it seems to whine / hum loudly. the sound also increases with my revs. at the moment i am kinda thinking it may be the transmission but i...

is gasket sealant needed at all when replacing inlet manifold gasket?

thank you for all the advice guys. both myself and the hand of my uncle knocked this over within 3 hours. i bought some blue rtv sealant for the job and used it in the allocated areas. only problem i came into was that i ended up braking the connection for the coolant temperature sender. i...

is gasket sealant needed at all when replacing inlet manifold gasket?

i have been reading conflicting information on this subject. some threads say to use it in the corners where the gaskets meet and other say not to as they are ruber and interlocck with each other. someone please tell me if they are needed as i am doing the gasket change tomorrow and want to...

    contemplating buying a VN...

This is just my opinion... But I think ecotec engines are far better then buick. I'm sure everyone agrees seeing the amount of conversions i hear / see on here. Depending on the price I think it would be a great little project for anyone. I myself have a VP which goes quite hard. So if you are...

    vn radiaor support

Doesn't look that bad mate. grab yourself a rubber mallet and have at it until it straightens up. I don't even think they will notice it to be quite honest. Most roady inspectors won't care too much as long as things aren't border line bad
