    Run out of Lpg

I have a VYII Factory Dual Fuel also, you can switch between fuels when A) the ignition is switched on but the engine is not running, or B) when the engine revs are above 1300 rpm. Note the fuel will not change over in reverse. My VY will start on whatever fuel is selected, just sometimes on...

VY LPG indicators (display & needle) not working

Gen Reaper is correct. Lift the cover in the cargo bay and you will find a metal cover with a screw fastener. Take this off carefully and you will find the solenoid cut off switch, the manual shut off valve and the tank sender wiring. Check the wiring carefully for any loose connections, if they...

    random ABS failure.

I have had a similar recurring fault warning since purchasing my VY. Asked for it to be seen to at the first service at the dealer and while they claimed it was an old fault recorded and cleared it continued to occur. My regular mech and rego guru waved the Tech Tool over the car and we found...

    Stupid brake rotors!

Glad you found a workshop that didn't charge a fortune for the work. But I must agree with Calaber, its worthwhile now taking the discs off and cleaning the mating surfaces, and while grease will work I'd recommend an anti sieze compound. Had the same issue on my old VP and similar result.

    Check Enigine warning light.

O2 sensors do degrade over time, after all the working environment is harsh to say the least. It is also possible to inadvertently fool the sensor into giving a lean signal, which will not affect the running of the car but will trigger the fault warning and code. (Code 13 on some models, not...

    Which Brand of Battery?

just a suggestion, I recently replaced the horrible Marshall battery the car came with when I bought it with a Delkor Calcium battery. These are available from most quality battery suppliers and may even be available on Ebay I believe. When you consider most V8's came standard with only about...

Fitting a tow bar to a VY S2 Sedan

Davo, in a wagon it will also depend on the towbar rating...a 1200 or 1600 kg bar are similar, but a 2100 kg Hayman Reese bar for example also has a pair of strengtheners which sit inside the spare wheel tub and bolt to the bar thru the rear panel. I have recently fitted one to my dual fuel VY...

Converting to Gas - any advice?

LPG VYII Wagon Just my two cents worth but I can advise about 410kms to a tank of LPG in my recently acquired VYII V6 Wagon. Or to put it another way, Sydney southern suburbs to Queenbeyan and back to Berrima before the Gas ran low. Trip cpmputer shows 11ltrs/100kms highway cycle on gas...

Are P platers as bad as they say we are?

oh yes indeed, as they always say, never let the facts get in the way of a good rating story. unfortunately todays prang down in the 'gong will only add fuel to the fire. i can see the headlines now, 'P plater injures 13!' and a truck driver on P's at that!! But it could happen anytime anywhere...

Are P platers as bad as they say we are?

the common point we are all making the common point all on this thread are making is you dont necessarily have to be a P plater to be a bad driver. i prefer to apply Darwins law..... the dumb animals die out and the smart ones evolve. unfortunately a lot of the dumb animals have P plates...

    Changing VP engine mounts

okies, am not advising you lift the donk high enough to affect the exhaust, remember thats one reason the subframe is removed, the other being if you leave it in, and try to lower the mounts onto it, the splayed position of the lower mount studs prevents them entering the holes in the subframe...

    Changing VP engine mounts

ok , yes it is a bit tricky but it can be done. first loosen off the mounts tothe subframe and to the engine brackets, dont take off the brackets. support the engine from above, either with a straddle bar on the inner guards or an engine hoist to take the weight off the mounts. remove the...

Hey Gunship, will run thru the coil test for you. With plug leads removed from coils, test with an ohmmeter, (multimeter, set to ressistance), and probe the secondary contacts on top of the coil. pacemakers rubbing

No the engine doesn't have to come out. The driver's side mount is the one that takes the most punishment usually, but it is advisable to change both. If you support the engine either from above or with a jack, the crossmember can be removed and the mount unbolted from the engine brackets. The...

    Illegal modifications

Good point, vpbeast. The other point that should be made is that a 'chip and tune' will do little without the cam and/or other engine mods. pacemakers rubbing

Guys, I seriously look at the engine mounts and the gearbox mount as these do collapse with age and throw the alignment of the exhaust out. Drivers side engine mont

The drivers side is the mount that takes the most punishment, so it makes sense to replace both. Best way is to support engine from above and remove engine crossmember. Remove mounts from engine brackets NOT brackets from engine. Got stung with that when I changed mine. Put passenger side on...

V6 swallows plastic plug from inlet duct pipe

You're welcome! Anytime. By the way guys, I did abit of surgery on the other duct. The nut is actually encapsulated in the plastic when the duct is blow moulded at manufacture. V6 swallows plastic plug from inlet duct pipe

OK guys, further info. No, it isn't the bellmouth in the inlet manifold chamber, I am talking about the black plastic tube that joins the air cleaner box to the throttle body. V6 swallows plastic plug from inlet duct pipe

Just a warning guys and gals. My throttle jammed open briefly for no apparent reason recently. After it returned to normal, about 2 or 3 kms further on the engine began to misfire. Naphalene the final verdict

Good point about effects on injectors. One more point though, as an alternative to mothballs, try mixing in some pure 'solvent naptha'. This is used at fire fighting training centres and burns with incredible heat, so you can imagine it's potential as an energy booster
