Your photo is taken from underneath and mine is taken from the top with the box around shifter removed so it’s bare but are vk ones different then vh?

Yep that’s what I have done but it just jams up when I put it in gear so it must be the part underneath like in my photo that also guides it that mine has been cut. that grey auto console you put up still has the surround on it I need to know what it looks like under that if possible?

Can you put up a photo of yours in the same state as mine so I can see it please I can’t find any photos online with it bare like that I will make the pieces and rivet them in if need be if I can see what they look like.

This is how it looks underneath is there a bit missing out of the back area it looks to have been cut? I get it all sitting in nice and it just binds up when I shift it out of park like it has nowhere to go at the rear when it slides back. Any help appreciated thanks.

Yeah they are up in price here as not a lot of good stuff on the market, people paying up to 8k for base model cars that need rust repairs and paint and aren’t roadworthy, my panelbeater I use seems to reckon even at 20k for a car with good body is a good deal if it has no rust and tidy paint.

Has anybody fixed rust in this area on a vb commodore or similar? Just wondering if it’s a common rust spot or whether I might be able to get a cut off another car or whether to get a panelbeater to fab one up for me. Thanks

Yeah I agree starting with a v8 would be easier but they are not that easy to come across in nz in good nick and for a reasonable price. Sounds like the ls engine might be the go then with the 6 speed manual to get the power and still reasonable economy for cruising Or try and get a t56 adapted...
