Red book prices say maximum range of $11,800 for 2014 MY 2014 and max range of $15,000 for 2016 MY 2016. The dealer prices for 2016 MY 2016 listed on car sales tend to be $17,000 - $20,000 for a car with more kilometres than in red book. How much should I offer the dealer for one of these cars ?

So basically an engine which has maintenance costs, say $4,000 to "replace" chain after 100,000 to 150,000 kms ? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love holden and the VF is awesome but with that kind of maintenance costs I really can't justify it. That would absolutely shatter resale values.

Doesn't fixing the timing chain cost something like 4 grand ? So you need to do that every 150k ? I mean if you don't fix it the chain blows up and you need to replace the entire engine. I payed 5 grand for a replacement engine in my VZ commodore about 5 years ago.

I have a VZ thinking of buying a VF but not sure about it due to timing chain issues which I ended up having to pay a lot to fix in the VZ. Thanks.

Right of course; sorry, it is a VF series 1 evoke. Doesn't mention anything about being optioned from the standard VF model.

Yup. That is what I am afraid of but that is the engine that I need. The timing chain issue was my problem in the first place and is the reason why I am replacing the engine.

I need to swap my engine over as it blew. If I call a wrecker I get quoted at 2300-2500 for an engine. However, when I look on ebay they are available for as little as 1100-1800. Logic tells me the cheaper it is, the more likely it will be broken, however aren't the ebay advertisements just...

Okay. Didn't realise it was 5k plus install. So about 6 grand. Are there LPG or factory dual fuel engines out there for a VZ ?

Hi all, Would appreciate advice. I have a VZ commodore and I've been told the engine has siezed because of something to do with a cam shaft and a chain. They tell me I have to get a new engine. I am from the ACT. Looking at options I don't really understand the pro/cons and/or costs...
