Just to be clear, both AT's and 6spd MT's take Dextron III. Berlinarator is on the right track with oil level. It needs to be pretty spot on. Too much or not enough will cause problems. If you remove the filler plug from the g/box, trans oil should just trickle out.

Your engine oil and g/box oil are seperate. Engine takes 15W30 oil and g/box takes DextronIII trans fluid according to owners manual. Have a look under the car where the bellhousing bolts to the back of the engine and see if there is any fluid leaking. The jumping out of gear will be a seperate...
