yeh, like mccar13 said, you can put any cluster in as long as its the correct series. i think you may also be able to put a vz series 1 cluster into a vy series 2... but im not 100% sure. for everything else (v6 or v8, speedo calibration etc) this can be programmed by any holden dealer...

mine were held on with double sided tape and sikaflex. sikaflex is an absolute bitch to remove, there are no chemicals i know of that are up to the job. since its proving to be so hard to get the sikaflex off, im going to spray mine the same colour as the car and stick them back on matt

when i took the badges off my acclaim i just pulled them off. they all broke so they couldnt be used again but it got them off the car. some of the sticky residue was left on the car so i got that off with some citrus cleaner. theres probably a better way, but it worked.. matt

i gave mal wood a call the other day. they quoted me $6100 for a 6 speed manual conversion for my v6. this included a fully reconditioned box with the gear ratios modified to better suit the v6, brand new clutch, peddles, trim parts, cross member, wiring, hydraulics etc etc etc and a tail shaft...

apparently theres some casting overhang in the vy series 2 which causes a problem with the 1.97 rockers. Its only on some cars though. if you're looking at the 1.97 rockers from FIT, they also sell a set of 5/16" pushrods for $120 which will allow enough clearance for the rockers to be used...

thats cause the cruise is only connected to the accelerator, if you go down a steep hill the cruise control will close the throttle but it cant do anything if the car starts rolling down the hill at more then the set speed. as for the car flying, what a crock of ****. even a little cessna...

thanks mate, just what i wanted to know. :thumbsup: the reason i wanted to go to the 6sp is because ill be supercharging the car soon and from what ive heard the getrag 5sp wont be able to handle the power. changing the diff gears will definitely be on the cards too.

geesus! was that using new parts from holden or something? for a vy v6, should be able to pick up the parts from a wrecker for a decent price. you could buy a whole written off car at auction for far less then $9000, then you'd have all the parts you need and then some. but for an ss...

depends where you get the parts and whether or not you can do the labor yourself.. if you can source all the parts from a wrecker you should be able to pick up the box with everything else needed for the conversion for less then a grand. if you cant do the labor yourself, you'll be looking...

i think in the vy the fuel lines just have little tangs on them which unclip. so push the 2 halves of the connector together, press the tangs in and pull the fitting apart matt

yeh thats basically it. before disconnecting anything and removing the tank you need to relieve the fuel pressure. undo the filler cap, take the fuel relay out and then run the engine till it dies. once youve got the tank out, theres a locking ring that needs to be turned to get the pump out...
