G'day guys, In the process of replacing my water pump, and it would be a nice simple task. Except for the fact that the bolts connecting the pulley to the pump are pretty much welded shut by rust and age. It's never been removed since '93, so that's 15 years of dodgy leaking rust buildup...

God damn it, bought the pump, got all the parts, all ready to go, and the bolts on the pump pulley are rust welded shut. Managed to get one off, but even coating them in bolt remover hasn't worked. Easiest part of the install, and I can't even get the bloody pulley off. Brilliant.

Thanks for that mate, RACV confirmed it's a water pump, and I might just have a crack at fixing it myself since the mechanic wants $230. What's the worst that could happen? :P

I bought my car, a VR Acclaim, with 243,000 on the clock. As it was my parents car, it had been driven to Dad's work every day which is 95% highway, and not much else. It had been serviced every 10,000 without fail, and is in A1 mechanical nick, even the Gearbox is original and hasn't faltered...

Fair enough, I just assumed you guys had fancy fuel meters or something. When I fill up, I usually have at least 10% of a tank left, mainly because there's stuffall servos near me.

How are you guys telling exactly how much fuel is used. Distance is easy, just the trip meter, but how do I find out exactly how much fuel I've used?

I got my auto licence this week. All the families cars are auto, the BA, the EF and my VR, and I couldn't afford the lessons I'd need to get the manual, so I've got the little A licence.
