    [SA] Car Security - Bollards

Well the one in the 5th gear test is what i'm talking about you can get those that you slide in that arn't automatic. I'm just saying that the bollarads that are held onto a base plate with 4 dyna bolts aren't very effective. Don't get be wront the dyna bolt setup is ok as the bolts will stretch...

    [SA] Car Security - Bollards

Yeah but that's like putting a fake flashing LED on the dash of your car it's more visual deterent that actually doing anything. It's four dyna bolts that will just pop out as soon as any force is applied to it and remeber the levers and fulcrum principle get the pole from the top and you could...

    [SA] Car Security - Bollards

MAXXIS group do secuirty bollards that slide into a hole in the ground. All you do is unlock it and slide the bollard out by hand. Why don't you just get a wheel clamp cheaper and less destructive to get installed.

    Part Numbers help

I'm looking for the part number for the rubber boot that joins to the intake pipe to the air box that deletes the MAF on the 300KW HSV engine. Thanks.

    Does this suck or what?

Well for starters there's no import tax remember everything is made there. Its always going to be cheaper.

VX SS Engine / Oil Light Query.. please help :)

Sounds like a powetrain fault. Just ask holden to check for fault codes should only cost around $55 that how much i got charged. I've also heard that temp sender can fault and cause odd things to happen. What's the plug connection like at the oil sender? Could possibly be faulty wiring.

    Getting traction

Can you put 245/40R17 on the back of a VX SS with no problems? Cheers The car std has 235

    Blue slip problems

It is a little pricey but find out how much the parts are going to cost you then if you are mechanically minded and the price is substantially less do it yourself. If you are only going to save a couple dollars get them to do it to save you the hassle.

    differential gasket?

A tube of gasket maker will do just a good a job, and probably half the price.

    Best Leads to use

10mm leads are pointless unless u are running a high ignition system and/or high reving engines. All that they are are a thicker insulation everything is the same as an 8.5 or 9mm leads. Its just to help prevent cross sparking.

    Should I drive or fly???

It all comes down to comfort. Take what 3hrs by plane or 2 days by car? Have to sit beside or near some annoying kid or crying baby in the plane, or be listening to your favorite song with the window down and cool air on your face. If cost isn't the issue then look outside the box.

    Front lower control arm bushes

I've done it to the front of my car full suspension bush redo. I find it does make the steering more sharp and doesn't squarm as much under cornering. However it does and will place more stress on components because the stresses aren't relived by the flex in the bushes because there is non.

clicking noise in the rear end

You say though it doesn't vary with road speed? What about engine RPM? Is the sound consistent no matter what?

Diff swap anyone done one? and no this isn't about ratios!

Thanks, but you obviously can't get any tools in the space to access the 4 diff bolts holding it to the carrier. Does the carrier mounts flex enough to allow access to the bolts? Cheers

    jammo64

Is it a 5Lt or LS1? Did you lose any coolant? You may have a blown head gasket but was coolant coming out the overflow? If not it may not have overheated. If the car sounds ok then i wouldn't worry. I'm be concerned if coolant got into the cylinder may have bent a rod.

Diff swap anyone done one? and no this isn't about ratios!

I'm about to swap my 3.07 diff in my VX SS with a 3.46 i've got the whole diff everything ready to bolt up. Has anyone done this? Do i have to remove the whole diff cradle or can i just undo the rear diff mount and let the cradle drop till i can get access to the mount bolts? Cheers. I'm a...

    oil change problems

The oil may be bleeding out of the lifters too quickly. Pop the hood again and slowly bring up the revs and see if the ticking goes away or dulls down the high the revs. If so the oil is too thin and no pumping up the lifters on idle.
  22. S

clicking noise in the rear end

Your CV joints on the axles will make a clicking noise when worn but should vary with road speed. If the sound doesn't vary with road speed then it can't be from the tailshaft back. Does the clicking happen in reverse?

    VY bonnet onto VZ?

Both VY and VZ bonnets are interchange able just need to do the front bar and headlights. The actual body lines such as the door creases are the same from VT-VZ. Front quarter guards have same shape just VZ SS has flutes and obviously different shape to fit headlights but other than that the same.

    Increasing stabilty

Without actually widening your cars stance lowering it and adding wider tyres is the next best thing. By lowering it you lower the cars center of gravity so less body roll and therefore less mass swaying around trying to pull the car in the opposite direction of the corner you're going into...

Upgrading My VY exhaust systme.. >need helpe<

Everyone talks about removing the rear resonator what about removing the center mufflers or replacing them with hot-dogs? What would the exhaust note sound like then? I've done the whole no resonator and it just drones.

    Exhausts - Whats legal?

Depending what state you're in i was talking to a mate who's an RTA inspector and asked him about exhausts. He said that any aftermarket cat-back system has to be technically engineered because it changes the emissions and noise limitations that the car was orginally ADR'd for. The only part of...

Will a VZ LSD fit in my VX?

Yes and no. YES the diff will bolt straight up no probs however the tailshaft coupling is bigger than the VX. So you'll either need to take off the VZ yoke and fit the VX with rubber to use the VX tailshaft or get a VZ tailshaft.

    vx with HID lights

As far as i know no VX had the HID however you could retro fit the VZ monaro lights which had HID to a VT/VX you just had to do a front bar conversion and HID harness setup.

    Hotdog or Resonator?

hotdogs aren't illegal they just don't muffle the sound very well. It's basically minimal packing usually good if u need ground clearance, you can put a couple in.

    UHF install in VX?

No u don't have to put the antenna through when u buy the antenna it will come with a pre-cut to length cable and a connector on it. Cut off the connector and thread the cable though the hole. yes you will need to buy a new connector and do some soldering.

    UHF install in VX?

Yeah it was hard but looks neat and i hate having the antenna up front clutters forward vision which is already bad due to the poor A-pillar design. I found the TM218 head fits perfectly where the front compartment try just under the stereo is. Looks like it was made for it. Also i don't trust...

    UHF install in VX?

I just installed a Motorola MCS2000 UHF in my VX and a kenwood TM218. I can send photos if u want. I'd recommend getting a remote head unit much easier to install. For power all i did was run a 20A cable from the battery under the car and up there a grommet in the boot near where the fuel tank...

    Knocking noise from engine maybe.

It's been tuned mafless and i only run it on 98 either Vortex 98 or BP ultimate. Shouldn't the knock sensors pick up detonation and retard the timing?

    Knocking noise from engine maybe.

I've got a knocking noise that only seems to be there when engine is warm and under load like going up a hill or accelerating heavy. However when i park the car and free rev it in N or P the engine sounds fine no noise not even lifter noise. Is there anything else maybe exhaust system that can...

    Are Extractors Worth It?

Headers and Extractors are the same thing it's the design. Headers were called headers because they connect to the head. Extractors because the extract the exhaust gases. If u go to different parts of the world they use different names for the same thing. It's the design of the two the matters...

    wat i need for supercharger

If you're talking about an ecotec, heaps you're better off just buying an L67 complete. You'll need an inlet manifold and cylinder heads. Inlet manifolds are hard to come by unless u buy one new from yella terra or holden.

    VX XU6 servicing problem

If you haven't tinkered with the car after the service take it back! But pop the hood and just have a look around make sure all the hoses are tight and connections are in properly but don't start ripping stuff off. Did it start doing this the day after the service or a couple weeks down the track?

VT SS S2 cluster into VX SS S2

I've got a VX SS 4spd auto S2. Can i fit a VT SS S2 cluster into it? Both cars are LS1 however the VT has a 6spd manual behind it not an auto. Cheers.

    interchanging gear boxes.

I have a VX SS 4L60E auto. Now the box is getting a little tired and am thinking of putting in a low K VZ SSZ 4L60E both are from an LS1 so bolt up no problem but are the computers/ electrics completable? Cheers.
