This is a car we had in at work.

It was dvertised as 'a matching numbers, 409 car' for a fairly large sum of money, from the States.

It was bought sight-unseen with no pre-inspection, and did not live up to expectations once landed in Aus.

The buyer immedialy put down a 50% deposit to get the importing process started.
Months later, the Australian importer called to secure more money as the American seller was essentially holding the original motor to ransom.
The buyer thought nothing of spending his remaining money owed to get the car of their dreams.

This is how the Impala arrived in our resto shop

Looks like it's a nice, original example. But in need of much love.

Really look forward to seeing it take a bit of shape. I'm much more of a fan of the later models (65 onwards), but there is so much classical appeal to this model.

The car was rusted out beyond repair, and the boot was missing entirely

Looking pretty sad in its stripped down state

Good example of why you always pre inspect. Is it going to be salvageable though or write off?

My thoughts exactly, and as said already, exactly why you need to inspect. No way to tell from those first pics lol.

whats the go, did they not use a primer or do they fill the boots with salt water over in the US?

Bugger all rust protection (ie none!) back then + they salted the roads in snow areas so they wouldn't ice up quite so much.
