First off, hello and welcome in this thread i will (obviously) post everything i have done/will do to my car, ill try to explain it in detail in a sort of diy way as everything will be done by myself, if you have any questions or suggestions or even "wtf did you do that for" please comment away as all opinions are valued. also if you have one of these also and are having trouble post it here i may be able to help.
Bad punctuation and grammar is bad.

Purchased: October 2011

Price: not going to say but i definitely believe i got a good deal, it was under 10k (but owes me so much more now (shakes fist)

Km's: 250k when i got it 265k now. with full receipts of everything ever done to it since birth and 5000k service increments.

Mods when i got it: FMIC, Eboost, bosch 044, hks bov, pod, hd clutch, upgraded front brakes, pineapple bushes, 3inch straight through exhaust to a unmeasured size massive cannon, 18 inch wheels though bald rubber, ssl springs in front and sl springs in rear, adjustable rear upper arms. did not know at time of purchase but 27mm front sway bar and 20mm rear sway bar.
It also has twin immobilisers, yes twin.. it had 1 then the most previous owner decided he wanted another one, can't be too careful living in sydney I guess lol

Mods i have done to it:
1st get rid of the stupid bov, it was cool for about 1 week.

2nd was coilovers, a genuine necessity for a car of this kind in my opinion i went with k-sport kontrol pro dampers, they are pretty good and are rock hard on firm and comfortable(er) on soft i took it to forster for a weekend hunting trip and there was 30 minutes of bumpy dirt track, set it all to 0 and cruised on through like it was nothing.

3rd is just your basic 2.5" dose pipe, nothing special. sounds nice.

4th was 2 HID kits, 6000k. I chose this as they are the whitest/brightest ones, installation was very straight forward as everything just connects to your loom, with this car though, I did need to remove the headlights to get the bulbs in.

5th.. I'm getting to it.... see below.

'Future' mods: shimmed 4.3 diff to re, gearbox rebuild, all new bearings and synchros, extreme xhd cushion button clutch, wheel bearings, castor arms, tie rod ends, solid subframe mounts, solid diff bushes, rocker stoppers, rocker cover gasket, rear main seal, flywheel, upgraded shift springs, needle roller spigot bush, steering lock spacers, front and rear strut braces and painting the brake calipers purple. i will also be welding a 3 inch by 8 inch flexi pipe into the exhaust to protect against those random scrapes.
(by future mods i mean this is all getting done in the next 2 weeks, so i though id better get to it making a build thread.)

future future mods: better sound system, good single din unit with kick arse front splits and most likely a single 12 in the boot and some crappy sick by nines to fill in the space in the back. and either another hot dog muffler or a varex cat back.

far future mods: gt2871r or gtx3071 high mount set up with external gate screamer, power fc computer, injectors, thermo fans, new harmonic balancer, r33 brakes all round with QUALITY pads and other stuff that i will think of at the time but is not of grave importance now, any suggestions ?

if after the motor mods i blow the engine, im rebuilding it fully forged and spraying the car purple. or doing a vh45de conversion. but this is years away.

Problems ive had: well the original rear shocks were non existent but i solved that pretty quick with the coilovers.

shortly after buying it the exhaust manifold gasket went which was really annoying to do, the first time i had ever worked on a turbo car and it took me an entire day just to get it out. upon repairing i found the turbo gasket was broken also so i replaced that.

about 2 months later the exhaust gasket went again and i was furious (mainly at myself for not nipping up the bolts again) and procrastinated about replacing it for about 3 weeks until i got super sick of the noise and awkward head turns. the 2nd time i did it i had it out, replaced and in within 3 hours and i was pretty impressed with that.

then the front main seal started leaking, which was a pretty easy fix, more annoying than anything. if you want to know how just ask.

next i had a sticky caliper which ate through one of my brake pads, it was as simple as removing them, linishing the piston and lubricating it with pbr rubber grease, i also replaced the rear pads with just some basic bendix pads

the rocker cover gasket started weaping oil about a month ago but thats getting replaced when i do the big maintenance in a couple weeks.

pretty soon after getting the car i noticed a flat spot at about 3krpm on high boost but knew nothing about turbos and didnt know what to make of it, a friend came for a ride a few months later and said its not normal go get it checked, so i took it to my local mod shop to put it on the dyno and what do you know the high boost was causing detonation and the car actually made less power on 13 psi than it did on 8psi which is stock tune.

finally 2nd and 3rd grinds if your doing high rpm changes.

power: 150rwkw and the motor is pretty stock atm. when i brought it it came with a dyno sheet of 200rwkw and i was instantly skeptical of this.

Cosmetically its stock besides the wheels, the rear wing was removed by the previous owner but i want to put it back on eventually (he patched up some holes). it has no body kit or anything and thats the way i like it. the only after market attachment i am thinking about getting is a small roof lip to go over the rear window as i think these look nice.

cant think of much else to say, i have seriously taken one pic of the car and a couple of the mods since i purchased it as im not really into that but ill get some soon and post away (*sigh* looks like ill have to give it a washy washy)
pics soon
pics soon

Hope you like it.

i read the whole thing and then was unrewarded with no pics :(

with that turbo gasket, is it the square metal on? do the bolts still have their 'tab', (the bit of metal that goes under 2 bolts, one per side and has tabs that you bend up to hold the bolts in place)

the reason i ask is those bolts work loose pretty easy, i have done one where i was just too lazy to bend the tabs back in place, and sure enough after a couple of weeks of being used by my workmates the bolts loosened off again. those tabs are really important. DONT USE SPRING WASHERS if you ever want to take the turbo off again. the tabs are like 10 bucks from nissan and totally worth it.

when you say "r33 brakes" does that mean you are doing the 5 wheel stud conversion?

i love these S14's you might cop a bit of flak from dead **** holden users on here, but at the very least i would love to see pics and be kept updated.

sorry=( nearly didnt make it due to the lack of pics.

Yes, but they were rusted off.

the reason i ask is those bolts work loose pretty easy, i have done one where i was just too lazy to bend the tabs back in place, and sure enough after a couple of weeks of being used by my workmates the bolts loosened off again. those tabs are really important. I learned this the hard way, it gets so hot that they lose all tension and just come lose again. they are still on there but i tighten them once a month

when you say "r33 brakes" does that mean you are doing the 5 wheel stud conversion?

s14 have the same 5 stud wheel patern as r33's at 114.3x5 so no, the r33 brakes are the largest nissan brakes that are pretty much a generic fit. however you need to change the master cylinder from a bm50 to a bm44 to get correct brake force distribution and a firm pedal.

i love these S14's you might cop a bit of flak from dead **** holden users on here, but at the very least i would love to see pics and be kept updated.

I welcome their criticism if they post genuine reasons why it is bad I will try to build up its rep or counter the bad with some good, the thing I think they will be most argumentative with is "its too small, it sounds ****, its a a juice box, needs turbo for power etc, not enough cubes.

nice mate cant wait for pics!! my mate has a s15 r spec with cams bigger turbo ect, coilovers ect and there awsome little cars and go hard too

suscribed :D

cheers for the subscription, i also have a mate with turbo cams computer and stuff, makes 260 which is pretty safe, doesnt have coilovers though but has a 4k sound system... and stock rims =/

pics will be soon i promise.

These are just pictures I had on my phone, I will get some proper car ones up in a few days.

Hope this holds you over!

Not in chronological order:
143140d1339145044-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0131.jpg

Towing a log when we went hunting (it was more a inner circle of friends thing)

143141d1339145054-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0164.jpg

The 2.5 inch steel intercooler piping I used to make my dose pipe.. which I forgot to mention in the original post.

143142d1339145070-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0165.jpg

Don't know why I took this picture, but for anybody that wants to know what pineapple bushes are and how they work.

143143d1339145083-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0172.jpg

When I was deciding if I should do an rb25 gearbox conversion and what diff I wanted, all information is 100% accurate. (if you can read my writing)

143144d1339145093-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0243.jpg

The new Extreme XHD cushion button clutch, 1050kg's clamp load. I was pleasantly surprised when it came with a clutch alignment tool.

143145d1339145109-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0259.jpg

My speedometer corrector kit, which comes as a circuit board and a bunch or parts so you have to make it yourself SHOULD BE FUN!

143146d1339145122-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0284.jpg

This was sitting on my bed when I got home from the gym today. You know what that means! Gearbox is coming out next weekend.

143149d1339145167-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0511.jpg

The day I got it, on the way home I went to Tempe Tyres to get them replaced, might I add that it was a terrible workshop, they put the wrong tyres size on it and i was there for over 2 hours. Also there was 1 good tyre left (90% tread) which I asked to keep, and they tried to give me a bald one in return, then one with an actual hole in it like somebody hit it with a drill.
/rant they may be a good company but this is my personal experience.

143150d1339145185-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0545.jpg

This is what my car looked like EVERY day after coming home from work at the power station, its coal dust and to think we breathe that **** in..... I soon after quit.

143151d1339145198-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0570.jpg

My first custom (bodgey but better than stock...) part on this car, it replaced a brittle plastic hose connector and looks much neater than the oem one.... I inscribed my name on it because I have a dremel.

143152d1339145210-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0591.jpg

My coilovers, as they arrived in the box... woo.

143153d1339147310-1995-200sx-sports-daily-imag0292.jpg

This is about 90% of the parts that are going in soon.

These have nothing to do with my 200 bit it is something I did to my excel to help me get over the boredom of 12 hour sit in car security shifts, only rule was 'don't sleep' so I didn't.
Deep cell battery, 300w inverter, 65w 24inch tv, xbox and laptop. Time flew by.

The car also has 6000K HID's H3's and H4's.

Also found out today that when I adjusted the handbrake I forgot to reconnect the electric mirrors, but it's raining so I will do it another day.

There were 2 things that made me choose a series 1 over a series 2.
1: Everybody was telling to to get one 'the headlights look mad', I don't like that. (the lights do look alright though).
2: The series 2 front bar is hella ugly and I like to keep cars looking stock (besides the rims).

This is a decision I have not once regretted.

I'm soon going to do a write up of my VY R8 versus the S14 200sx.

It will include all from driving, handling, power, sound etc and it will be my personal opinion on both cars.

When I owned the R8 I had friends telling me to go jap, now I have jap I have other friends telling me to go muscle again.

Everybody always fights but until you have owned both and driven them a fair amount you cannot make a decision and don't have a right to judge.
