Nice VY Calais which looks the part, and an awesome first car for your son or a daily driver for you...

Few pics of the car when we bought it, before the mods started. (Jan 22). It looked like a Grandpa spec in the photos, but a lot rougher in person.

The mods you've done to it has really transformed the car, and the leather seats make it look more Calais and less Executive :)

Used to have a VY Executive Wagon with SS rims and while it was the base model, it really looked the part... The VY/VZ shape has aged quite well IMO...

Thanks mate. Really happy with it. It had a lot wrong with it or broken but have pretty much fixed everything that I can see now.

I owned a VZ, but prefer the VX. My boy wanted a VY, and we got it for him. I have let him choose how we build it within reason, (The SSL were too low at the back, so we swapped them out, I insisted on the 19's instead of 20's because of the Sydney roads, and I made sure the exhaust is not too loud, and the tints all legal). Don't want him getting hassled too much.

Spent far too much as you do, but it's been cool to hang out together and work on it. Going to be cool to be able to go on cruises and shows together.

Yep, it's part of the learning experience... Your VX is also nice, and the VT/VX shape is nice as well... In fact, all Commodores have looked good IMO...

New Rims - Boy wanted 20's. Sydney roads are too crap, and I already had a set of tyres.
Yeah Bud Simmons
Riding like a 4WD.

Those alloy parts come up really good when polishing them.

I polished some of my parts up. I decided to chrome plate them. Pick them up next week.

Here's a pic.

They look great, but I know my boy will not keep them polished. Leaving it to a few select pieces. Was the alternator easy to take apart and put together?. I was trying to paint mine, but didn't want to take it apart.
