VE SV6 commodore
Hey everyone

I’ve recently just bought a 2008 ve sv6 commodore 5 speed auto. It has developed a shudder at low rpm under 100 feels like it doesn’t know what gear it wants to be in. But it did go into limp mode and was shaking. Turned the car on and off and then went away. The vacuum hose off the intake had a crack fixed that and it’s has done the same thing. Under load it doesn’t do it at only cruising under 2000rpm.

Cheers

The two barbs that come off the intake plenum on the last of the LY7’s were plastic. One type screwed in and had an o-ring on the end. They perish and you get issues like you are experiencing. The other type was a plastic barb that was push fit and from memory had two o-rings at the base of it. The o-rings can perish and you’ll experience huge vacuum leaks.

To remove the threaded type, unscrew. You’ll quickly work out its threaded. The other type you need to unscrew, but it doesn’t come out at all, so now you know it’s push fit and that will need to be twisted side to side and pulled as you go.

The fix was inserting a threaded brass barb in. There is a thread or two covering it. A video on YouTube as well.
