VE SV6
Hi everyone. I have a 2010 VE SV6 commodore.
Ive noticed that around 1200 to 1500 rpm the engine makes a drone / vibration / moaning noise that can be heard and felt inside the cab.
This is usually bang on 60km under light throttle / load. The gearbox (auto) drops into 5th / 6th very quickly and when you "push" it out of this gear and increase the revs above 1500 rpm the noise stops. Unfortunatley it drops back into high gear when off the throttle and the noise comes back. Doesn't do it above 1500 rpm. Seems like the engine is labouring in that gear at those revs.
Trans has been inspected, engine & gear box mounts too and nothing noted. No vibrations from cat shields or anything like that. Note that the noise is almost non existent with the A/C on - as if the extra load of the compressor some how cancels out this vibration.
Surely i'm not the only one who has this issue. Car has under 100,000k's and its not a timing chain rattle or a knock or any horrible internal noises.
Doesn't make any unusual noises when stationary while reving the engine to and beyond 1200 rpm - just under load.

Is this just normal ?

Harmonic Balancer maybe ?

Any thoughts ?

Thanks
