Best advice is to ring these guys as they are local to you.

comeracing.com

They will help you with what you need to know and will help you get the best out of it and a cam to suit your application.

depending on the cam your interested in you would need to take a lot of the heads to get enough CR which would lead to a extremely thin fire deck on the heads. not good. best way is to change the pistons.

i'm not 100% certain but i seem to remember that taking off .060" from the heads bumped the CR up to about 9.0 or maybe a bit over.

Marky, Marky, Marky.....Seriously mate, don't grind a heap off the heads it's the half arsed way to go about raising comp, pop the slugs out and stick a set of flat tops in there. Do it once, do it right IMO.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Commodore owners and half arsed are like peas in a pod. Junky - whack your heads on the surface grinder and carve off 1/2 an inch or so
