Hi guys. I am just wondering if a 3200 high stall would go alright with my motor combination. My motor has 10.5:1 comp, flat tops, dual plane high rise manifold, 1000cfm throttle body, worked heads, solid lifters and most likely a crane 280 cam + other good bits. I am planning on racing it until I get off my p's then I'll use the car for cruising on weekends most likely! Also have 3.9 diff gears if that makes a difference?

If I have left anything out let me know, I just wanna know if it will be too big!

Cheers.

The Crane F280's power range is 3400-7200....so ideally ya wouldn't use a 3200rpm converter. My new motor has a F280 and I'm using a 4000rpm converter...just to be safe.

Stupid me I should have checked the cam specs first! Would it really matter that 200rpm difference? Is there a similar cam to the 280 that is good for a little less rpm that anyone can think of off the top of there head lol?

Just had a quick look on the crow cam catalogue cause I couldn't find anything similar on the crane catalogue and I came across a crow 4731, rev range 3200-6500 which would be alright cause the 3200 would suit the hi stall and my manifold rev range is between 1200-6500. What does everyone think?

With the F280 I'd much rather a 4200rpm converter then a 3200rpm converter...just means a few more revs.

I was thinking the 3200 would be ok due to your diff gears (3.9) as they move your powerband to a lower rev range
